Welcome!
Hey folks! I was forced to make a new website for Flour & Thyme and I thought why not add a blog post feature! I’ll use this ‘blog’ to share recipes, highlight events, talk about my inspirations and generally just update you guys about what’s going on with Flour & Thyme!
Currently Flour & Thyme is treading water while my personal life is in flux. We’ve been moving houses, moving kitchens, dealing with car problems and health problems all while trying to keep our heads above water. It’s exhausting.
But none the less, I’ve still been working on some new things for Flour & Thyme. In mid June I officially moved out of the shared ACENet kitchen space and into my very own location. The new kitchen space is located at 35 Hocking St, apt 103 in Athens. It was a scramble to find all the equipment needed but I was able to pass inspection with flying colors! HUZZAH!
Back in June I was awarded an Ohio Winding Road grant! This small seed grant will help with the cost of the F&T edible flower garden, a small flower and herb garden dedicated to growing organic, edible plants to be used as decorations on cakes and desserts. Originally we were going to till part of our yard and turn it into a little flower and herb garden and only days after being awarded the grant we were told our landlord decided to sell our house, to someone other than us. I’ve been frantically trying to figure out how to still use the grant while not having a yard, or even knowing where we’ll move to. I’ve finally decided to make a planter pot garden on the small porch area of my new kitchen space, it’s not what I originally had in mind but we’re trying to go with the flow these days.
Starting earlier this month I partnered with the Side Bar is Athens, providing high end desserts to compliment their craft cocktails and eclectic eats.
There’s been some ups and downs dealing with the heat, new kitchen space and my schedule, but
F &T mini cakes are back at Kindred Market!
There’s lots of exciting things happening in the future and I can’t wait to share them with yall!
